The process and delivery.
The goal was to create and maintain a robust design system to be used in Android Auto. Including not only mobile interfaces but also something new for me: designing for a car interface.
We received UX guidance from the Google team for the creation of the base components and the corresponding specs. With these guidelines, we designed all the required scenarios for mobile and for the car’s screen.
Android Auto is a constantly evolving product. This library is the source of truth for their designers. After some time using it, we performed a component audit that included a full review of the 5 Figma files involved in the system to identify inconsistencies, missing updates, specs, and additional components or variables needed. This audit was the starting point of the maintenance project to keep this library up to date.
I really loved this experience and whenever I see someone using Android Auto I feel so proud about the end result.
